FEATURED ENTRPRENEURS

Alexander Louderback

Founder of: Ambient Homes

Ambient Homes LLC is a startup business looking to power next generation smart home experiences. Ambient Home members get access to hardware that allows for universal compatibility and powerful automations, in addition to getting access to 24/7 support for all devices they own. Ambient Home is bringing on its first customers currently, but we are looking to rapidly expand B2C subscriptions and B2B installations into new homes.

Challenges: Ambient Home is looking to ensure and expand growth through new direct-to-consumer subscriptions and through business-to-business new home installations, all while keeping a low budget. With every new customer, the support requirement of the business raises since we provide 24/7 support. How do we keep a lean business model without hiring a huge support team while still being able to provide support for customers at scale? We currently run all support requests ourselves and have not hired any support team staff, and we wonder at what stage we should be looking to bring employees on.

Founder of: BLACC By La Cultura

The USD stays in African American communities for 6 hours compared to 20 days in Jewish Communities and 14 days in Asian communities (endlessly in White communities). MWDBEs businesses fail at a disproportionate rate to their White competitors. BLACC is providing the technical assistance and social capital so that more MWDBEs start and last longer!

Challenges: When was the last time you purchased something from a Black owned business? Normalize spending in Black/Brown communities; replace your ritual spending with companies that are owned and operated locally by POC. Space owners - how can you creatively provide rental opportunities to Black creatives? Hiring processes. Are you in charge of your company talent pool? Hire a MWDBE freelancer! BLACC members are early-stage CEOs - Forbes 500 in 2030. You need them on your team. Their products could save your life!
